HP buys Palm

After a month of bidding, we finally have a winner! HP beat the compilation and and acquired Palm, our favorite underdog smart phone manufacturer.  At $5.70 a share HP barely squeaked out in front of the competition (who's names we do not know at this moment).

Palm after being plagued by a large quarterly loss, ($22million) its not surprising that they went this route. With and luck we may see new life breathed into the Palm series by HP, and create some more phone OS drama with our friends Android and Iphone OS.

Google: Friend or Foe

In the last decade Google, now a household name, has gone from merely a search engine to an internet superstar. Once only for finding new and interesting sites on the web, they now have their hands in seemingly everything, from blogging to today cellphones. Google even has been buying up companies such as On2 [link] and making some (if not all) of their software open source.

All of this sounds great, but whats the catch. Is there some price were going to have to pay?  Seemingly there is no ulterior motive by the big G, they make all their money off of their ads.  In the end Google seems like a friend to all of us internet goers. Only time will tell what Google plans are,  but I for one welcome our new Android Overlords.
